Our tips
- Bali is about two and a half hours by air from Singapore. From the airport, Ubud is usually a one- to two-hour drive depending on traffic.
- Split your stay between Ubud (temples, rice terraces, rafting) and a beach area rather than moving hotels every night.
- Cover your shoulders and knees at temples; many provide or rent sarongs at the entrance.
- Fast boats to Nusa Penida leave from Sanur and take well under an hour — the island's roads are rough, so allow a full day and choose fewer viewpoints.
- Foreign visitors pay a Bali tourist levy on arrival or online in advance — check the current amount before you travel.
