Europe is where most of our biggest trips have taken us: a winter tour starting in Paris and on to Munich's Christmas markets, autumn in the Swiss Alps, Prague in November, Salzburg and Zell am See in Austria, and a day in tiny Liechtenstein.

Tips for visiting Europe as a family
- One Schengen visa covers all six countries in our videos — Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Czechia and Liechtenstein. Apply well ahead; appointment slots fill up weeks in advance in peak seasons.
- Trains are the easiest way between cities and across borders. Booking long-distance tickets early is usually much cheaper.
- Winter (late November to December) means short days but Christmas markets; September and October bring autumn colours in the Alps and fewer crowds.
- Switzerland and Liechtenstein use the Swiss franc, Czechia uses the koruna, and the others use the euro. Contactless cards work almost everywhere.
- From Singapore there are direct flights to cities like Zurich, Munich and Paris, and many one-stop options through the Middle East.

Do Sri Lankans need a visa for Europe?
Yes. Sri Lankan passport holders need a Schengen visa for the Schengen area, which includes all six countries in our videos — Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Czechia and Liechtenstein. One Schengen visa covers all of them.
Which country should I apply to for a Schengen visa?
Apply to the country where you'll spend the most nights. If your nights are split equally, apply to the country you'll enter first.
How many days do you need for a Europe tour?
For three or four countries, around 10 to 14 days lets you enjoy each place without rushing. Europe's trains make it easy to link cities, so you spend less time in airports.
